Evelyn Ilene (Bilau) Eichberger went home to be with her Lord and Savior,

leaving behind a rich legacy that spans generations.

Evelyn was born to Gustav and Lena (Correll) Bilau on Oct. 10, 1926, in Creston. She attended school there until age nine when her family moved to a farm near McLean. She was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Creston, and was confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church near McLean. She

graduated from Osmond High School in 1944. As a young woman, she worked as a housekeeper for neigh - bors and also cared for neighbors in need. When leaving home at the age of 17, she began working at Cudahay Packing Plant in Omaha. She then stepped up to serve her country with pride, working with dedication as a riveter at the Glenn L. Martin Bomber

plant in Bellevue, constructing B29 bombers during World War II. Ev - elyn married Douglas Eichberger on Dec. 14, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph. She lived and helped with farming operations south of Plainview all of her married life. She was a member of the Stark Valley United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women's group. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, and taught Bible School and Sunday School. In 2008, the Stark Valley Church closed and she transferred her membership to the Plainview Methodist Church. Evelyn was a lifetime member of the Plainview Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Evelyn was an excellent cook and an extraordinary baker, a gift deeply rooted in her family history. Carrying on the heritage of her grandfather who was a baker, she lovingly preserved and prepared many old recipes passed down through the family generations.

Evelyn was known to keep her spiritual vision and her famously sharp mind that never wavered.

While our hearts ache with her passing, we take immense comfort in knowing she is resting in eternal peace.
