Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Osmond. Military honors will be by American Legion Post 326, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7838, and the Sons of the American Legion, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Osmond. com/stonacekfuneralchapel/. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond.
Milford Kumm passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by his family at Clarkson Towers in Omaha. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond in charge of the arrangements.
Milford 'Mick' Kumm was born March 19, 1932, to Robert P. and Meta (Gloe) Kumm on a farm northwest of Osmond. He was baptized April 10, 1932, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mick attended Immanuel Lutheran School eight years and was confirmed
on March 25, 1945. He graduated from Osmond High School with the Class of 1949. Following graduation, he was employed for a short time for a packing company in Sioux City, IA, after which he came home to assist his father in the farming operation. Mick was inducted in March 1953 into the United States Army. He served with the military liaison mission to commander in chief of soviet forces in East Germany. On May 22, 1955, Mick was united in marriage to Hattie Schlote at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. To this union was born five children: Denise, Julene, Lori, Mark and Michael. Milford and his wife worked side by side on the home farm northwest of Osmond. This was their home until they moved into their new home in Osmond and their son, Mark and his wife Joan, took over the farming operation in 1990. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond where he held various offices and was also a member of the church choir for many years. He was a life member of the Osmond VFW Post 7838 and American Legion Post 326.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Kumm of Osmond; daughters, Denise (Steve) Schnieders of Columbus and Julene (Kirk) Weyhrich of Osmond; son Mark (Joan) Kumm of Osmond; 13 grandchildren: Ryan (Jennifer) Schnieders, Kendra (T.J.) Thiem, Eric (Cara) Weyhrich, Clint (Kate) Weyhrich, Aaron (Trisha) Weyhrich and Anna Weyhrich, Travis (Jennifer) Erwin, Marc (Kinsey) Erwin, Jon (Whitney) Erwin, Brianna (Chris) Schmit, Zachary (Jaci) Kumm, Alexander Kumm and Caitlin Kumm (fiancé Taylor Stanley); 22 great-grandchildren; brother Robert G. (LaVerne) Kumm of Lincoln; sister Elaine Timmerman of Norfolk, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mick was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori Erwin in 2015; son, Michael Kumm in 2018; siblings, Lester who died in infancy, Harland Kumm, Glen Kumm, Kenneth Kumm, Alice Schoonover and Elizabeth Herbolshiemer.
