MaryAnn passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at her residence in Norfolk with her family at her side.
Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Ann was born on April 19, 1941 to Henry and Johanna (Kuhl) Gerdes in Osmond. She was baptized May 11, 1941, and confirmed on April 11, 1954, at Osmond Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Osmond High School in 1958. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Duane Lee Finch on Aug. 22, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. To this union they were blessed with eight children — Lorry, Dori, Bette, Connie, Annette, Amy, Jami and Jason. Mary Ann farmed in the Page and Osmond area with her husband. The couple then moved to Norfolk where she worked at the Cattleshed, Sale Barn Cafe, managed Kerr McGee gas station with her husband, Sherwood Medical, Gibsons, Golden Rule, Walmart, and Pic N Save/Sunmart. She volunteered at Faith Regional Health Services and the Salvation Army. Her pastimes were spending time with family and friends, sudoku puzzles, playing Words With Friends on her phone, attending Bible studies/retreats and Women's Connection, and going on various vacations with family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and embroidering.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Bette (Ron) Lingenfelter of Norfolk, Connie (Joe) Sackville of Norfolk, Amy (Terry) Martin of Joplin, MO, Jami (Tim) Koenig of Norfolk and Jason (Regina Kallhoff) Finch of Neligh; sons-in-law Eugene Metteer of Shelby and Robert Pittet of Norfolk; 18 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; brother LeRoy Gerdes of Osmond, and sisters-in-law Diana Gerdes of Ashland, Helen Brown of Portland, OR, and Margie Zimmermacher of Placentia, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Johanna (Kuhl) Gerdes; husband Duane Finch; daughters Lorry Finch, Dori Metteer, and Annette Pittet; grandson Joshua Pittet, and brothers Alvin, Leonard, Harold, and Roger.
