Robert L. R. 'Bob' Reed Sr.

NORFOLK – Funeral services for Robert L. R. 'Bob' Reed Sr., 86, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Pastor Lee Weander will be officiating the service.

Pallbearers will be Rob Reed, Curt Christiansen, Chad Christiansen, Tyler Bates, Ryland Bates and Bill Neitzke. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Nelson, Bob Wiese, Joe Unkel, Bill Neitzke, Shane Novotny, Dean Chapman and Daryl Tomjack. Following the funeral luncheon, burial will be held at the Golgotha Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wausa. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, also at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Robert passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Bob was born on April 3, 1939, in Wausa to Ransom and Martha (Schlote) Reed. He attended grade school at a rural district country school in rural Osmond, and graduated from Osmond High School in 1957. Bob married Phyllis Jensen on Feb. 14, 1960, at Golgotha Lutheran Church in rural Wausa. After marriage, the couple lived by Wausa until moving to California for a short time. Bob and Phyllis then moved to rural Norfolk for 10 years where they farmed and raised livestock for 10 years until moving into Norfolk. Bob worked at Vulcraft, Nebraska Department of Roads, owner/operator truck driver for T & F, then for Norfolk Truck Brokers (Norseman). He enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, John Wayne movies, and tinkering with his collection of 'Red' Farmall tractors. Bob was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served on the Board of Lay Ministry, and attended various church/Bible groups.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Reed of Norfolk; children, Janet (Mike) Christiansen of Hadar, Bob Reed of Pierce and Debbie (DeWight) Bates of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Faye (Tom) Daoust of Norfolk, and sister Joyce (Jack) Hoppe of Wausa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ransom and Martha Reed; infant daughter Judy Kay Reed; daughter-in-law Kathy Reed; granddaughter Hailey Christiansen; great-grandson Dylan Pospisil; infant sister Nancy Reed; brotherin- law Alois Mlnarik Jr.; nephew Steven Mlnarik, and niece Julie Mlnarik.
