Marion was born July 11, 1940, in Pierce to Otto and Kathryn (Hall) Wanke. She graduated from Osmond

High School in 1958. After high school she worked at Reed's Accounting in Osmond. On May 31, 1960, she married Lawrence Polt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Osmond. The couple farmed near Pierce until the mid-1980s and raised six children. In addition, they started Grandma Polt's Canned Beef using an old family recipe and established sanctioned kiddie pedal tractor pulls at the local, state, national and international levels. She also worked at Mosaic in Norfolk for 12 years assisting special needs adults, retiring at age 70. Marion was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She liked to cook and never let anyone go away hungry. Her chokecherry jelly and cinnamon rolls were family favorites. She found a special joy in teaching her younger generations their way around the kitchen. Her greatest love was being surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
