Karla died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning, CA.

Karla was born Nov. 18, 1944, in Wausa to Wayne and Mary (Fitzgibbon) Reed. She graduated from Wausa High School and Wayne State College with an education degree. She married Jerome (Jerry) Thomsen Aug. 22, 1964, at Osmond Presbyterian Church. Karla and Jerry owned and operated Thomsen's Corner in Osmond for 46 years. Karla had different jobs over the years, including being a substitute teacher and selling Avon in Osmond. Karla later became an Avon district manager for 14 years. Karla and Jerry retired to California in 2007 to be closer to her daughter's family. Karla took great delight in her only grandchild, Jack. She enjoyed attending all his school events. When not spending time with her family, Karla enjoyed her retirement in California, including crafting and spending as much time with friends in the pool.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; daughter Kelly (Jonathan) Zweig of Los Angeles, CA; her sister, Jacquie Lorenz, of Osmond; sisterin- law, Jill Alexander, of Osmond; brother-in-law, Neil (Helga) Thomsen, of Phoenix, AZ, and grandson Jack Zweig of Los Angeles.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Thomsen; her parents, Wayne and Mary Reed, and her in-laws, Louis and Theda Thomsen.
