Clarice Ardelle Frevert, daughter of Albert and Ella (Kuhlman) Frevert, was born on Sept. 6, 1930, on the family farm near Wausa. She was welcomed by her older sister Joyce, then two years old. On Oct. 5, 1930, Clarice was baptized by Pastor George Pullman at Golgatha Lutheran Church southwest of Wausa. Clarice attended District 85 rural school near her home through the eighth grade. At that time, all rural Nebraska students were required to take state exams before entering high school. Clarice earned the highest score in the state with a 99¼ average. That same year, she won the Knox County Music Contest with her piano solo, “Glissando Mazurka” by Bohn, which she performed at graduation exercises. In September 1943, Clarice entered Bloomfield High School. During her freshman year, she received confirma tion instruction at First Trinity School and was confirmed at First Trinity Lutheran Church on April 2, 1944, by Rev. A. Allenburg. As a junior, Cla- rice represented Bloomfield at Girls' State. She graduated as valedictorian of her class on May 22, 1947. That summer, Clarice enrolled at Wayne State College. After completing 12 credit hours, she took the state teachers exam and began teaching that fall at District 132, just two miles from her home. She taught 14 students across seven grades, including four in kindergarten. Clarice later returned to Wayne State College, completing 2½ more years of study and earning her degree in elementary education. She went on to teach first grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Norfolk. On April 13, 1952, Clarice married Marlin Gansebom at Golgatha Lutheran Church, with Rev. A. Oesch officiat ing. Following a trip to visit relatives in Mobile, AL, and the Gulf States, the couple settled on the family farm 1½ miles south of Osmond. Marlin's parents, Willie and Christina Gansebom, moved into a newly-built home in town, while Marlin and Clarice built a thriving crop and livestock business on the farm.

Clarice was the epitome of a dedicated farm wife — driving tractors, helping with livestock, and managing the farm's bookkeeping. Together, she and Marlin raised their four children — Ruth, Lynette, Alan, and Larry — all of whom graduated from Osmond High School and went on to college. After 39 years on the farm, Marlin and Clarice built a new home in Osmond, moving there in February 1991. Their son Larry and his wife Susan continued the family farming operation. A lifelong woman of faith, Clarice was a member of Golgatha Lutheran Church until her marriage and then of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. She served faithfully as church organist for 60 years and was an active member of the Ladies' Aid for nearly 70 years, holding several offices including president. She also participated in the Hillside Pals Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, bowling leagues, and card clubs. An excellent seamstress, Clarice sewed clothing for her children and later created quilts for family members and Orphan Grain Train. She loved traveling, often visiting her children on the east and west coasts. She and Marlin traveled together for baptisms, graduations, and weddings, and she also enjoyed special trips to Europe, Ohio, Niagara Falls, Hawaii, Boston, and the Cayman Islands.

Clarice is survived by her four children: Ruth (Michael) Bartunek of Bainbridge Island, WA, Lynette Colletta of Laguna Niguel, CA, Alan (Lisa) Gansebom of Naples, FL, and Larry (Susan) Gansebom of Osmond; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Jeffrey (Caitlin) Bartunek, Laura Bartunek, Matthew (Kristin) Colletta, Andrew Colletta, Alison (Alan) Laidler, Ariel (Matt) Wallace, Jenna Gansebom, Brandi Gansebom, eight great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Juniper Bartunek, Olivia and Ella Colletta, Brock and Lilac Laidler, and Meadow and River Wallace.

Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin; her parents, Albert and Ella; her infant son Dennis, who died of the flu at age one; her sister Joyce (Murry Wagner), her brothers and sisters-in-law Everett (Helen), Edith (Al Geisler), Faye (Donald Wangstrom); and dear friends Don and Phyllis Netz.
