Vivian (Windeshausen) Manzer

Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond is in charge of arrangements. Vivian passed away, surrounded by her loving children, on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Heritage of Bel-Air in Norfolk. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Vivian Alice Windeshausen, the sixth child of 11 of the late Nick and Catherine (Korth) Windeshausen, was born Sept. 9, 1930. She lived on a farm north of Osmond, and at the age of three, her parents moved into town. She attended school eight years at St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Osmond High School with the Class of 1948. She worked as a nurse's aide during high school and after graduation at St. Joseph's Hospital (now Osmond General Hospital). She also worked as a bookkeeper at Goeres Electric. When the family moved from the farm into Osmond, she worked at the family business, Manzer Equipment, Inc. She was very proud of and was complimented on it being the nicest and cleanest dealership around. he fell in love with Chris/Duane and they were united in the sacrament of marriage on May 17, 1952. From this deep love they were blessed with six children Robert, Steve, Mark, Cindy, Suz and Sandy. The couple spent their first four years of marriage in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Chris spent six months in Korea. In 1956, they moved to Osmond and in 1960 they moved to the family farm which would become the 'Grade A Manzer Dairy Farm.' Vivian was the center of the family. She enjoyed helping on the farm, gardening, canning, baking and prayerfully guiding her family to become faith-filled people. Her love for her family and God was endless. She led by example in everything she did and everyone who knew her was better for it. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and showered them with gifts that only a grandmother can. Her candy drawer was always full and her lap was never empty. She guided us all with prayer, a hug or a smile! Always 'loving us more' as she would say. She had a great devotion to our Blessed Mother and found great hope and comfort in praying the rosary. Her generous and servants' heart will never be replaced. She was a proud member of St. Mary's Parish all her life. She was also a member of Christian Mothers, Ladies' Catholic Order of Foresters, Legion Auxiliary Unit 326, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Osmond Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Ladies' Guild, Charter member of the Homemakers Club of Osmond, Senior Center and a past member of Osmond Women's Club. She was dedicated to her parish and community and a friend to many.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Steve and Beth Manzer of Osmond, Cindy and Rodger Warneke and Sue and Dave Bachman of Pierce, and Sandy and Mike Schleppenbach of Lincoln; 17 grandchildren, 32 greatgrandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brother Jim Windeshausen of Fremont; sisters Marge Griess of Lincoln, and Kitty Kear of York, along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
