com. Cynthia L. 'Cindy' Gansebom was born July 2, 1952, to Dwaine and Betty (Albrecht) Gansebom. They were living on a farm between Pierce and Osmond and Cindy attended a country school until they moved to a farm 3½ miles south of Osmond. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School after they moved, being baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran

Church, before transferring to Osmond Community School. She graduated in 1970 with the rank of salutatorian. That class stayed close through the years.

She continued to enjoy those lifelong friendships throughout her life, even marrying a classmate. Cindy married the love of her life, Dave Hoffman, on March 30, 1973, at St. Mary's Catholic church and joined the Catholic Church.

They were blessed with 52 years of love and happiness together. She was a member of St. Mary's Guild, and served as lector, communion minister, and money counter for many years.

The couple was blessed with four children, Val Ankeny (Dustin) of Wayne, Terry Hoffman (Kayla) of Osmond, Carl Hoffman (Crystal) of Osmond, and Cassie Boehm (Lee) of Bennington. Cindy was devoted to her family and enjoyed attending both their children and grandchildren's events and sport activities, with softball and baseball being favorites. Cindy was a cherished grandmother to Abby, Ethan, Calvin, Clara, Callie, Piper, Emmett, Colt, Cody, Cara, Macy and Myles. Cindy's first job was with Postal Finance in Norfolk although she had to wait a few months until she turned 18 before they could

officially hire her. She worked there for six years, quitting before her and Dave's first child was born. She wanted to raise their children and eventually started doing daycare in their home.

While their children were growing up, Cindy worked as an aide for St.

Mary's school. She served as treasurer for the capital campaign when the new school was built. She also organized the Life Chain in October for many years.

She started working for the City of Osmond in 2002 and worked there more than 20 years. She held various positions, starting as assistant treasurer but also serving as clerk/treasurer, spending many years as the official treasurer, all while working part time. After the 2019 flood, she was responsible for all the paperwork needed to meet FEMA regulations. She was able to get over $500,000 for Osmond and received special recognition from the city. She also served as manager of Westside Apartments before becoming a member of the board. After Cindy's mother died in 1990, she wanted to keep the family close and started hosting all the holiday meals for her siblings and families.

Eventually her own family grew to the point that she had to stop the sibling meals. A new tradition was born when Ethan, the oldest grandson, requested chicken and milk gravy for his birthday — one of her specialties. It made Cindy very happy to cook with love for their family and see everyone eating together. Everyone enjoyed going to Grandpa and Grandma's house, and she loved seeing all the smiles when they walked through the door. Another tradition was her baking a bucket of chocolate chip cookies for birthdays.

That always brought a big smile and not much sharing.

Working with numbers was always Cindy's love; she truly enjoyed it. Reading mysteries, working on puzzles, and caring for plants were some of her favorite pastimes. After Dave and Cindy were married, Dave's mother Marie gifted Cindy with a violet. Cindy was a genius at taking care of the violet.

That violet produced many more, allowing her to give away countless plants, while still having the original plant, plus five extra shelves of them today.

She loved working on her computer and wrote her children an email every single day for many many years with the subject line reading: Good morning, beautiful children!! She was our compass in life. Everyone knew how much Cindy loved them, and her family loved her so incredibly much and will miss her terribly. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was devoted in her faith.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Dwaine and Betty Gansebom; her brother Doug Gansebom; her in-laws Walter and Marie (Weeder) Hoffman; sister in laws Rolanda Johnson, Clarice Joy, Rose Marie Holmes, Joan Koehler and Marilyn Hoffman, and brother in laws Darwin Johnson, Jim Hoffman, Loren Petersen, Marlan Holmes, Paul Swing, Bill Joy and Donald Koehler.

Cindy is survived by her husband; four children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; sisters Linda Peters of Norfolk and Ann (Steve) Pint of Leawood, KS; brothers Dallas (Lynne) Gansebom of Hadar, Darin (Mindi) Gansebom of Bennington and David (Anna) Gansebom of Plainview; sisters-in-law Peg Petersen of Peachtree Corners, GA, Sister Patricia Hoffman of Milwaukee, WI, and Delores Hoffman and Cheryl Gansebom of Osmond, and brothersin- law Dwaine Hoffman of Osmond of Dennis Hoffman of Gretna. She was special to many nieces and nephews as well.
