Marian A. (Prather) Koehn

Marian A. (Prather) Koehn

Marian A. (Prather) Koehn, 96, passed away on Nov. 5, 2025.

She was born on April 7, 1929, to Archie and Amy (Dahl) Prather in Wausa. She lived a life full of love for family and friends, generosity and faith. She was known for putting others before herself and finding joy with the friends and family who shared her company. She remained close to nieces who often visited her in Lincoln. Marian was raised and attended school in Wausa. She then graduated from Wayne State College with a business teaching degree and began teaching in Bancroft, where her future husband was also a teacher. She married Lowell Koehn on June 8, 1951. They later taught for 13 years in Osmond, before moving to Fremont, where she also taught for several years. Family was always a big part of her social circle. From dances with siblings and their spouses in the early years of their marriage to family reunions with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her apple pies were the best and always requested at events. She loved knitting and crocheting and created gifts for many people, including prayer shawls that went to Tanzania. Marian made friends wherever she went. She was a competitive bridge player and still played bridge and bingo at age 96.

Marian is survived by her sons, Brad Koehn and Scott (Faye) Koehn; Brad’s children and grandchildren – Amy (Jeff) Lynch with daughters Ashley and Emily, Andrew Koehn with daughters Riley and Abigail, Amanda (Matt) Browning with twins Alice and Gunnar; Scott and Faye’s children and grandchildren – Matt Koehn and fiancé Rachelle and her children Corbin and Haley, Aaron (Leigh) Koehn with children Willa, Margo, Lenore and Artie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Koehn, and daughterin-law Terri Koehn.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln, NE, 68516). Visitation took place one hour prior to the funeral service. Her burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Osmond. There will not be a graveside service.
