A Memorial Mass for Georgine F. Whalen, age 92, of Norfolk, formerly of Randolph, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph. Reverend Kevin Vogel will be celebrant. Honorary pallbearers will be Chelsea and Ryan Honnette, Christopher and Meghan Lackas, Kyla and Augie Molina, Jamie Lackas, Bryce and Heather Whalen, Nolan and Marissa Whalen, Mason and Megan Sedlacek, Tyrel and Jenna Whalen, and Ethan and Lauren Whalen. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

The Mass was livestreamed on the funeral home website. Visitation began at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with a 10:30 a.m. Rosary. Home for Funerals – Randolph is in charge of arrangements. She passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at Osmond General Hospital. Georgine F. Whalen was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Wausa to Eddy and Alma (Closter) Johnson. She graduated from St. Frances High School in Randolph. On April 7, 1953, Georgine married Boyd 'Gene' Whalen at St. Jane Frances de Chantel Catholic Church in Randolph. Georgine helped her husband run the family farm and raise their six children, Mari, Douglas, Michelle, Milissa, Dave, and Daniel. She was an avid collector of dolls and roosters. She enjoyed being outside and tending her flowers and plants.

Georgine liked working with her hands to create jewelry and rosaries. She baked the best homemade bread and made wonderful fried chicken. Georgine served the community as a mentor for the TeamMates Program in Randolph. She had a big heart and was always willing to help someone in the community. Georgine was involved with the McLean Extension Club, St. Frances Circle 4, Willing Workers Club, and the Randolph Food Pantry.

Georgine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Daniel Whalen; siblings, Roseanne Sauser, Rick Johnson, and Richard 'Bud' Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Leona Whalen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jay and Virginia (Whalen) Brown, Vic and Tuck (Whalen) Caster, and Kenny and Dorothy (Whalen) Dowling; and brother-in-law, Augie Weiss.

She is survived by her children, Mari (Terry) Gilleland of Prescott, AZ, Douglas Whalen of McLean, Michelle (Jim) Sedlacek of Onalaska, WI, Milissa (Tom) Lackas of Laurel, and Dave (Rhonda) Whalen of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Marianne Weiss of Wahoo; sister-in-law, Beverly Johnson of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Marvin Sauser of Indianola, IA; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Meadows in Norfolk, the Asera Care Staff in Norfolk, and the staff of the Osmond General Hospital for all of their wonderful care of our Mom. Truly exceptional!!!!
