GRAND ISLAND - Amy E. Folkers, 93, of Grand Island, died on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at CountryHouse Residence. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel, CFC officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the South Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview. Online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Amy was born on May 25, 1932, to John and Ava (Wright) Wiegert on a farm south of Plainview. She graduated in 1949 from Osmond High School. On July 30, 1950, Amy was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Eldred E. Folkers. The couple lived on the family farm by Osmond. They moved to Columbus in 1956, then Scottsbluff in 1958, and Grand Island in 1966. She was a homemaker, served as a Sunday school teacher, and volunteered regularly for various causes. Amy is survived by her son, Terry Folkers of Ogallala; daughter, Cheryl (Ron) Larsen of Longmont, CO; grandson, Weston (Aubrie) Larsen of Berthoud, CO; great-grandchildren Lukas and Landon Larsen of Berthoud CO; and brothers Bob, Denny and Larry Wiegert.
