Neva died Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Neva Luella Bartak passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Plainview to Lloyd and Leona Shoemaker. Neva attended Plainview Public Schools. On Dec. 9, 1961, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arnold Bartak, in Brunswick. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and caring for those around them, and were blessed with four children: Chris, Lisa, Linda, and Rhonda. Neva spent most of her life in Creighton, where she devoted herself to her home and family as a loving homemaker. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton and a member of the Women's Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Neva had a gentle and caring heart and found joy in the simple things that brought people together. She loved cooking and baking for her family, sewing, and spending time tending to her garden. Her home was always filled with warmth, where family gathered, laughter was shared, and memories were made.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Chris Bartak, Lisa Bartak, Linda and Jerry Shaffer, and Rhonda and Robert Rohrich. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Bartak; her parents, Lloyd and Leona Shoemaker; her brothers-in-law, Ray Bartak and Leonard Bartak; and her sisters-inlaw, Irene Bartak and Helen Julius.
Neva will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, and the love she so freely gave to her family. The care she showed in the meals she prepared, the things she created, and the time she spent with those she loved will always be treasured.
With faith in God's promise of eternal life, Neva now rests in the arms of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who went before her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
