WAYNE – Learn about the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars and find out what it takes to be an astronaut during Wayne State College’s free planetarium and laser shows April 19-20 at the Fred G. Dale Planetarium.

On April 19, the planetarium show “STARS” will be at 7 p.m., followed by the laser show “Laser Fun” at 8 p.m. On April 20, the planetarium show “Astronaut” will be at 1 p.m., followed by the laser show “Laser Beatles” at 2 p.m.

In “STARS,” the audience will journey to the farthest reaches of the galaxy and experience both the beauty and destructive power of stars. This show focuses on the lives of stars, how they are born, how they die and how the human understanding of stars has changed over time.

In “Astronaut,” the audience will discover what it takes to become an astronaut. Experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut, explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space and float around the International Space Station.

Admission is free and open to the public, but freewill donations are accepted.

The planetarium is located on the lowest level of Wayne State’s Carhart Science Building.

Doors open 20 minutes prior to the start of a show and shows generally include a tour of the current night sky, a view of the constellations and a full dome video. All shows last about 45 minutes.
