WAUSA — Waldo Johnson, proprietor of the “Wallie’s Café,” has this week moved the same to the new location a few doors west from where it was formerly located. A wash room has been arranged and a partition placed to shut off the kitchen division from the Café proper. Cigar case has been placed in front next to the door, the fountain and lunch counter, all on the west wall of the room. The booths having been placed along the east wall. All in all, Waldo has now a very inviting place and will no doubt command his share of patronage. Look for the new window sign.

WAUSA — On May 11 the price of a one-ounce First-Class Mail stamp will increase from 42 to 44 cents. Local Post Office officials remind customers they can continue to mail letters at today’s prices by purchasing their Forever stamps before May 11. “That is why Forever stamps were created, to help consumers ease the transition during price changes,” the Post Office said. Prices for other mailing services, such as Standard Mail, Periodicals, Package Services(including single-piece Parcel Post), and Special Services will also change on May 11. The average increase by class of mail is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index, the Post Office said. For the average household, the Firs-class Mail stamp price change will represent an additional $3 over the course of the year. When compared to annual increase in other household expenses, such as groceries, health care and utilities, the Postal Service continues to be and economical choice for shipping and mailing during tough economic times, the Post Office said through a press release. For First-Class mail, there will be no changes in the current additional ounce price, which remains at 17 cents.

“Rising operational costs make the price adjustments necessary,” the Post Office release said. Prices for mailing services are reviewed annually and adjusted each May. Prices for most shipping services, include Express Mail and Priority Mail, were adjusted in January and will not change in May.
