“The Watchmaker’s Hand” is by Jeffery Deaver. A construction crane mysteriously collapses in New York City, resulting in mass destruction and injury. A political group claims responsibility for the sabotage. They threaten another attack in 24 hours if their demands aren’t met. Forensic Criminalist Lincoln Rhyme and Detective Amelia Sachs are on the case. Then the Watchmaker comes to town to murder the criminalist and both Rhyme and Sachs are in danger. They must stop the attack on both fronts. This book is in large print.

“Blood Will Tell” is by Heather Chavez.

Frankie Barrera is protective of her younger sister, Izzy. Five years ago, Frankie got a frantic phone call that led her to a car accident that Izzy can’t remember. Six friends partied that night, but one girl was never seen again. Now Frankie learns that her truck looks like the one used in an abduction. The only one to have access to her truck is Izzy. “The Wager” is by David Grann. In 1742, a ship carrying 30 men washed ashore in Brazil.

The survivors had been on a secret mission for England during an imperial war against Spain. Their ship, the Wager, had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia. The men built a craft that survived until they neared Brazil. Six months later, another craft with three survivors landed near Chile. They indicated the 30 men were actually mutineers. The group of 30 accused the others of tyranny.

A court martial was convened to determine the truth. The guilty could hang. This book is in regular print.

“The Note” is by Carly Schabowski.

In 1942, Jozef and his wife, Adeline, are captured and sent to Auschwitz. There, they are separated, wondering whether they will ever be together again. Ten years later, Alice hears sirens when the body of a teenage girl has been found. Jozef is a suspect. One of Alice’s friends breaks a window in Jozef’s house. Alice feels guilt, so she writes a note to Jozef. As she and Jozef form a friendship, he relates his experiences in Auschwitz. Alice learns his secret and her life will never be the same.
