WAUSA – The Wausa varsity golf team is driving toward the end of the 2024 season.
The Vikings placed ninth with a team score of 406 on April 29 at the Lewis and Clark Conference Golf Meet in Randolph, eighth with a 397 on April 27 at the Pierce Invitational and 12th with a 430 on April 23 at the Cedar Catholic/Hartington-Newcastle Invitational, Hartington.
“We are definitely continuing to improve,” Wausa head coach Chris Haberer said.
At the conference meet, Wausa junior Brady Bloomquist placed 26th after shooting a 93, junior Jake Munter placed 34th after shooting a 96, freshman Lincoln Thorell placed 37th after shooting a 103, sophomore Kayton Anderson placed 52nd after shooting a 114 and junior Olivia Barta placed 55th after shooting a 119.
In Pierce, Bloomquist placed 21st after shooting a 95, Thorell placed 27th after shooting a 97, Anderson placed 35th after shooting a 100, Munter placed 47th after shooting a 105 and Barta placed 62nd after shooting a 125.
And in Hartington, Munter placed 43rd after shooting a 98, Bloomquist placed 56th after shooting a 107, Thorell placed 58th after shooting a 111, Anderson placed 60th after shooting a 114 and Barta placed 63rd after shooting a 115.
“It was another very tough weather day with the wind and cool temps,” Haberer said of the tournament in Hartington.
The Vikings competed May 1 at the Niobrara/Verdigre Invitational, Niobrara. They then are set to travel on May 6, for the Randolph Invitational at 10 a.m., and on May 8, for the Ponca Invitational at 10 a.m.
