WAUSA—Waste Connections of Northeast Nebraska will start using an automated trash system beginning June 3.
With this process, there is a change in trash collection for the community of Wausa. To ensure pickup, people are asked to follow these helpful hints:
• This is for residential services only.
• Trash pickup will be on Tuesdays.
• The business will no longer have alley pickup. All containers must be in the front. People also are asked to follow these guidelines: • Please place your container on the curb in front of your house, with the front of the tote facing the curb. If there is not a curb leave the container at the edge of the street closest to your home.
• The container must be at least 6 feet from any obstruction such as fence, streetlight, mailbox, or parked vehicles.
• Containers should be placed at least 3 feet from each other.
• Containers blocked by parked vehicles or too close to obstructions will not be serviced. Once the situation is corrected, the container will be serviced on the next regularly scheduled collection date.
• Containers with open lids or that are overfilled may be subject to an additional charge.
• On your service date, remove the bungee cord.
• Set your container out for collection by 5 a.m. on your collection day to ensure same-day service or you may set your container out the evening before.
• Service may be affected by holidays; check the holiday schedule to confirm your neighborhood pickup.
• If one container is not enough, request an additional container for an additional fee by calling 402-644-8300. If you continually have additional trash, you will be required to have an additional tote.
