NIOBRARA – The North Central District Health Department is set to host its inaugural Healthy Living Expo, scheduled for June 11 in Niobrara.
The free-to-attend event will be held from 1-7 p.m. at Niobrara Public Schools. The day will be packed with fun, education and community spirit.
NCDHD, based in O’Neill, has partnered with more than 30 organizations – including Knox County libraries, such as the Lied Lincoln Township Library in Wausa – to bring people an event like no other. The aim of the expo is to offer convenient access to community services related to health, mental health, healthcare screenings and overall well-being.
Here is what is in store for attendees: - Games and activities for all ages, including distracted driving simulations and fun knowledge games, and door prizes and free gifts.
- Food from Niobrara Public Schools’ post-prom moms and a food truck. Food purchases are available, so attendees are encouraged to bring some cash.
- Free and low-cost health services and screenings. Some services may charge or ask for a donation, and attendees each are asked to remember to bring their insurance card.
- Sessions on safety, the environment and community resources, as well as community resource booths with information for everyone.
- Vaccination games and vaccinations for all ages, including those needed for school, as well as mental health resources, including counseling services.
- Emergency and safety demonstrations, including ones on electrical safety and seat belts.
- Wellness screenings, including A1C checks, blood pressure checks, vision screenings, hearing screenings and more.
