Sheriff’s office hosts course on mental health, officer wellness

CENTER – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office hosted a class on mental health, substance abuse and officer wellness on March 12.

CENTER – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office hosted a class on mental health, substance abuse and officer wellness on March 12.

The class was taught by Jennifer Jackson of Heartland Counseling Services Inc., which has locations in South Sioux City, O’Neill and Ainsworth.

Twenty-nine law enforcement officers from across northeast Nebraska attended the course, which is part of the required mandatory law enforcement training sessions each year.

The law enforcement officers attending were from the Bloomfield, Creighton, Pierce, Santee Sioux Nation Tribal and Verdigre police departments, along with the sheriff’s offices of Antelope, Cedar, Knox and Pierce counties.
