WAUSA — After a concerned effort the past weekend on the part of solicitors for the “Doctor for Wausa Fund,” the goal was reached and easily surpassed after a final accounting was made. A total of $24,150.00 in cash and post-dated checks was announced by directors of the drive Tuesday of this week. This exceeds the original goal of $20,000 by $4,150.00. The drive was conducted under a great handicap as unusually bad weather and roads have prevailed since soliciting teams were organized earlier in the month. About 60 men drove through snow and mud to present the facts about the fund and offer the opportunity to share in the plan to nearly everyone inthis community. They were received in the typical Wausa fashion of generosity toward a worthy cause.

WAUSA — Following the recent meeting called by the School Board to explain the reasons for a proposed $163,000 addition to the present high school facilities, this writer was questioned in regard to the matter. Naturally, our response was that we would favor a sensible building plan for District 76-R - which meant exactly that which was explained in full at the meeting. With a special election scheduled for April 14 to decide on the issuance of $163,000 in bonds or further educational needs as well as improved existing high school facilities, this newspaper feels that our Board of Education is presenting a sound, sensible building project to the voters at a cost of one and one-half mills.
