BLOOMFIELD — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office received a report at approximately 5:40 p.m. March 20 of a one-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 84 about one and a half miles west of Bloomfield.
The investigation revealed a 15-year-old male juvenile driver, and two other male juvenile passengers, 14 and 15 years old, all of Bloomfield, were in a motor vehicle westbound on Highway 84.
The passenger-side tires of the vehicle departed the road into the south shoulder. The driver subsequently over-corrected and then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over and come to rest partially in the road on the driver’s side.
All three vehicle occupants were transported via ambulance and later released with minor injuries. The driver was found to have a school permit, which has restrictions regarding transporting other passengers and travel restrictions.
The sheriff’s office advises other juvenile drivers with school and/ or learner’s permits to ensure they abide by those requirements to avoid any traffic infractions.
The sheriff’s office investigated arson that occurred March 21 north of the Niobrara Valley Golf Course in Niobrara. Upon investigation, juveniles are suspected of starting the fire and the case is under investigation.
