BLOOMFIELD – Roadwork was set to begin in early April on Highway 84 east of Bloomfield.
According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, work will take place on Highway 84 just east of the Knox County Fairgrounds and extend east to the intersection of Highways 81 and 84.
Western Engineering Company Inc., Harlan, Iowa, has the $8,200,414.76 contract for the project, which will include asphalt overlay, guardrail work, concrete island, bridge nosing, concrete patching and seeding.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane while a flagger operation is used for at least a week, possibly longer. The anticipated completion of the project is early summer of 2024.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, buckle up and to put cellphones down.
