Nebraska crop production reported
LINCOLN – Based on June 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2024 winter wheat crop is forecast at 42.5 million bushels, up 15% from last year’s crop, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Average yield is forecast at 50 bushels per acre, up 8 bushels from last year.

Pierce County Republicans meet; forums to be held June 25, 27
Chairman Bradley Lewon called the June 4 meeting to order at the Pierce Lied Public Library. Nate Codr led the group in prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

WSC alumni invited to submit artwork for exhibit
WAYNE – Wayne State College alumni are invited to submit original artwork for the Juried Alumni Art Exhibit being held in conjunction with Homecoming. The exhibit will run Oct. 4 through Nov. 13 in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located in U.S. Conn Library on campus.

Governor to host town hall meetings on property tax crisis
LINCOLN – Governor Jim Pillen will host four town halls in the coming week focused on providing property tax relief to Nebraskans. He has held multiple town halls across the state since the conclusion of the regular legislative session. These events are open to the public.
