NELIGH – The annual ESU 8 Art Show was held April 4-8 in Neligh. The show was a testament to the boundless potential of young artists with more than 632 visitors taking in the artwork during the five day span.

Track teams compete at Hartington, Pierce
HARTINGTON – The Wildcat invitational was held on Monday, April 15, at the Hartington Sports Complex. The meet time was moved up an hour due to forecast of early evening storms. The temperature was warm, but strong winds really challenged the athletes.

County Republicans hear candidates speak
The Pierce County Republican party met Tuesday, April 2, at the Lied Pierce Public Library. Chairman Bradley Lewon called the meeting to order and led the group in prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Fatal vehicle accidents in Nebraska on the rise
As of April 15, 2024, there were 71 traffic fatalities for the year in Nebraska, a 29% increase over the same period in 2023. The causes are not surprising – speeding, drunk driving, lack of seatbelt use, and distracted driving were some of the reasons for the fatal accidents. You can take steps to increase your chance of avoiding or surviving a vehicle accident.
