The 27th annual Hoffman Christmas in July was held Sunday, July 14, at St. Mary’s Parish Center in Osmond. Family pictures and visiting followed the 1 p.m. potluck dinner.

DHHS gives West Nile Virus 2024 update
LINCOLN The first reported human West Nile virus detection for the 2024 season has been found in the Douglas County Health District through the routine screening of blood donations. There have been two mosquito pools that have tested positive for West Nile virus so far this season which have been located in Douglas County Health District and Two Rivers Health District.

Pierce County Fair activities revealed
PIERCE - Plans have been made for the 2024 Pierce County Fair, which will be held July 24 through July 28. River City Carnival will be returning this year with rides, food, games and ride armbands available. The fair board always tries to bring back events that county residents enjoy, with new events included as well. These will include the following: Team roping will be held on Wednesday, and Thursday evening is the Outlaw Pulling Association's truck and tractor pull.

School board hears insurance proposal, discusses feasibility study
OSMOND - The District 42R Board of Education met Monday, July 8, in the school library. The meeting was preceded by hearings on Parent and Guardian Involvement in Education Practices, Student Fees and District Title I Parent and Family Engagement.
