Community meeting planned to discuss school co-op
OSMOND – One of the big topics of discussion at the March 11 board of education meeting was the sports co-op with Wausa Public School, as well as high school basketball.Among those present at the meeting were Terry and Kayla Hoffman, Nick Krienert and Josh Brummels.

Osmond Tiger track and field team to begin season
For the first time in a number of years, the Osmond High School track and field teams have been training outdoors and on the track before the start of the season. The Tigers will be led this season by five state qualifiers from last season. Seniors Erica Heiman, Hunter Buchanan and James Doyle, junior Keli Aschoff and sophomore Jaxon Vinson have experience at Burke Stadium in Omaha. Senior Xander Brown also has state experience in the discus his sophomore year but missed last season due to knee surgery.

Brandon’s Bushel of Blessings receives AWG Cares Award Grant
CENTER – Recently, AWG Cares provided a grant request in the amount of $3,000 to Brandon’s Bushel of Blessings in Center. The grant request was submitted by Marsha Cleveland, Nebraska Division employee.

County-level commodity estimates given
LINCOLN – County-level estimates for 2023 row crops are now available, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The estimates, based primarily on surveys conducted with farmers and ranchers last fall, can be accessed using the QuickStats online database, found here: http://www.nass.usda.gov/Quick_Stats/ County-level row crop estimates are not published if any of the following conditions exist: Estimated harvested acres are less than 100. Insufficient number of producer reports were received to establish statisti cally defensible estimates.

Wattier places in Conference Championships
On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Wayne State College track and field athletes attended the 2024 Northern Sun Conference Championships at Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, MN. In prelims, sophomore Keaton Wattier advanced to Saturday's final of the 60-meter hurdles with the No. 6 qualifying time of 8.17 seconds to eclipse his previous record of 8.19 seconds set last month at the Mark Schuck Open in Mankato.
