County Visitors Bureau discusses recent grants
PIERCE – Chairman Robert Wehrer presided over a meeting of the Pierce County Visitors Bureau on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Pierce County Courthouse. Roll Call was taken with members Robert Wehrer, Kelly Hodson, Julie Newman, Rick Higgins and Jean Bierschenk present. There were no visitors in attendance.

Northeast Nebraska Ag Conference will be December 17; preregister now
The first Northeast Nebraska Ag Conference will be Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Lifelong Learning Center on the campus of Northeast Community College in Norfolk. The Ag Conference is co-hosted by the Bow Creek Watershed Project and the Bazile Groundwater Management Area (BGMA) and takes the place of the BGMA Winter Meeting, which is typically held in January or February.

Service organizations present flags to fifth grade students
OSMOND – Representatives of Osmond's five service organizations gave a presentation on flag etiquette to Osmond Community School fifth graders on Friday, Nov. 8. In attendance were Ron Stech, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 326; Dave Kruse, American Legion Post 326; Dallas Steckelberg, Vet - erans of Foreign Wars Post 7838; Chris Adamson, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 326, and Keri Schultze, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post 7838.

Students share Voice of Democracy speeches
OSMOND - Recently, students in the Osmond High School junior class submitted Voice of Democracy essays with the theme of "Is America Today our Forefathers' Vision," and winners of the contest were chosen. Jade Halsey was the first-place win - ner, with Jack Berg second and Ava Reikofski third.

Christmas Wishes to be held December 8
OSMOND – The community Christmas Wishes gathering will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the city auditorium. Hosted by Sons of the American Legion (SAL), it combines an evening of entertainment with honoring local veterans and assisting those who could use a little help at Christmastime.
