St. Mary’s to host tavern drive-through
OSMOND – St. Mary’s Elementary School is planning a tavern drive-through on Friday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the school. Menu includes tavern or hot dog, chips and dessert. Proceeds of the meal will go toward student education.

State’s crop production report released
LINCOLN – Based on Oct. 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2024 corn production is forecast at 1.90 billion bushels, up 10% from last year’s production, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Area to be harvested for grain, at 9.70 million acres, is up 2% from a year ago. Yield is forecast at 196 bushels per acre, up 14 bushels from last year. If realized, this would be a new record high for both production and yield.
