Service organizations present flags to fifth grade students
OSMOND – Representatives of Osmond's five service organizations gave a presentation on flag etiquette to Osmond Community School fifth graders on Friday, Nov. 8. In attendance were Ron Stech, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 326; Dave Kruse, American Legion Post 326; Dallas Steckelberg, Vet - erans of Foreign Wars Post 7838; Chris Adamson, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 326, and Keri Schultze, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post 7838.

Students share Voice of Democracy speeches
OSMOND - Recently, students in the Osmond High School junior class submitted Voice of Democracy essays with the theme of "Is America Today our Forefathers' Vision," and winners of the contest were chosen. Jade Halsey was the first-place win - ner, with Jack Berg second and Ava Reikofski third.

USDA to begin issuing $2.14 billion to agricultural producers through key conservation and safety-net programs
LINCOLN – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced that it will begin issuing more than $2.14 billion in payments to eligible agricultural producers, and landowners – providing much needed support through key conservation and safety-net programs. Producers should soon receive payments from USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) for their participation in these programs aimed to conserve natural resources and keep family farms economically viable.

2023 Irrigation and Water Management data now available
LINCOLN – There were 212,714 farms with 53.1 million irrigated acres, which included 81 million acre-feet of water applied in the United States, according to the 2023 Irrigation and Water Management Survey results, published today by the U.S. Department ofAgriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Nebraska crop production report released
LINCOLN –Based on Nov. 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2024 corn crop is forecast at 1.88 billion bushels, up 9% from last year’s production, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. If realized, this would be a new record production.
